Dr Steven Angelides holds a five-year Fellowship in the Centre for Women’s Studies and Gender Research and Sociology at Monash Unversity in Australia. He has a PhD in History and Gender Studies from the University of Melbourne and has held research fellowships at the University of Adelaide, the Australian National University and, before his appointment at Monash, the University of Melbourne.
Angelides is the author of A History of Bisexuality (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 2001). His publications and research reflect an interest in queer theories and the history and theory of genders and sexualities, with a current focus on child and adolescent sexualities. His preliminary research on child sexuality published in the international journal GLQ was recently awarded the American Modern Language Association (MLA) Crompton-Noll Award.
Angelides' current work includes a project, Teacher-Pupil Sex Scandals, a History of Adolescent Sexuality, and a joint Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Education collaboration on sex and relationships education in Australia with Dr Mary Lou Rasmussen and Dr Mindy Blaise.
