Dear Reader:

I personally will no longer be adding to or developing this section of the website. As always, I welcome any new entries plus useful edits or additions to existing entries that you might suggest.

There are many other scholars and activist who deserve mention—and those already listed certainly deserve more attention than is posted here. To give fair coverage to them all, however, would take an infinite amount of time, work, and money.

I have requested but still await a profile from Stonewall veteran John O’Brien, a collector of archives who cared for gay journalist Jim Kepner in his latter days when I visited him in Los Angeles. I also wish to include Stuart Timmons, who tagged along when Harry Hay and John Burnside came to stay with me in Boston and who most graciously took me through the U.S.C. archives.

Thank you!

Jim Kepner

Scholars and activists are divided into alive and dead and ones I’ve known and worked with versus ones I’ve not known but who have influenced my work.
