Kevin Sessums' book Mississippi Sissy is one of my favorite recent reads, and one of the most charming gay memoirs I've ever read. Below is a short bio, taken from Wikipedia

Kevin Sessums (b. 1956) is an American author from Forest, Mississippi. Sessums served as executive editor of Interview and as a contributing editor of Vanity Fair. He is currently a contributing editor of Allure. In 2007, Sessums, who is gay, published a memoir titled Mississippi Sissy, which is about the conflicted life of a self-aware gay boy growing up in Forest, Mississippi. His audio recording of the book was nominated for a 2007 Quill Award. Sessums' only acting credit is as the character Peter Cipriani in the miniseries adaptation of Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City.

Read My Review of Mississippi Sissy, written with Lewis Gannett now on this website. Hilarious as well as moving, this must be made into an movie.
